North East Georgia.
Deer have started to rut around October 25th. Heavy signs of rutting including bucks following does and grunting.

Here in TX its been so warm lately that the rut has been iffy. the weather is supposed to drop so they should pick back up. I have noticed that some of the bucks are still following the does arround.

What are the "normal" rut dates in TX.

Timing of the Rut,
There are many documented data, research and opinions on RUT timing. I live about one hundred mile north of the US. CA. boarder. Just north of the 52 paralel. The provincial biologist set a research in motion to establish the precise time of the peak of the Rut. They have issued permit to hunters to harvest female whitetail, about two hundred in our region, The harvest took place Feb. 1 to15, the hunters were ask to remove and submit the animal reproductive track, kidneys, lower jaw, and the tail, from the size of the embryo estimated the probable embryo age and calculate the time the buck impregnated the doe, the tooth reviled the animal age, amount of fat on the kidney indicating the animal condition. And they have established that the mean date of the RUT. November 24, Eighty-nine percent of the whitetail does conceived fawns in a period November 15 to December 5. The pregnancy rate was 92 per cent; Two thirds of the deer carried twins, good numbers of yearling fawns were pregnant. I would guess that from East to West this dates will be very close but moving North to South this time will definitely change earlier in south, latter in the north, to allow fawn survival in the spring. The whitetail doe caries the embryo for 202 days, when you see fawn wondering around on they’re own you should be able to figure out what is going on in your neck of the woods. I hope the some of you will find this helpful so you can arrange to hunt in the most productive time of the year.

| Here in the N.W.corner of the panhandle of Florida,we are in the pre-rut stage. The bucks are making scrapes, killed a 6 point that was with a bigger buck but could not get a shot at the larger deer. The temperature has a lot to do with deer movement,I saw a spike at 8:30 am and got the six pt. at 11:00 am it was a 34 degree morning. The closer the fuul blown rut comes the more time need in the stand.

Status here in NH finding some real nice scrapes, about two to three feet in diameter, trees are all racked up real good, with a definite pattern. Watched a 8 and a 6 pointer do battle, and they were not laying tag, Same eight been on three does everytime I see them.
Personally I think it is way early for this behavior, in another two to three weeks OK but this does seem early.
